In case of flood gauge readings at Valley City greater than 11.4 feet, the City of Valley City will issue media statements through the following:

- The Valley City Times-Record, a daily newspaper serving Valley City and Barnes County

Flood Insurance
The City of Valley City participates in the National Flood Insurance Program Community Rating System at a Class 9. This program recognizes the efforts Valley City has taken for effective floodplain management and benefits property owners with lower flood insurance premiums.
